Recently installed Win 7 home (upgrade)no sp's installed. I am the only one that uses this computer and I'm also listed at Admin.

The problem is whenever I need to make changes to a file (even changes in my email program - Thunderbird), I get a popup window that says "Access Denied ". How can I fix this so I can make my file changes?

    Your help would be appreciated

A User Account Control message or something else?

In my opinion you should never run a system with Admin priviliges on a daily basis, by doing so you are running an extremely insecure system that affects a lot more people than yourself.

Please give exact details of the error received.

I was trying to update an email addy,, made the changes and I pressed "Save" a window pops up saying "Access Denied ". There have been many times I have gotten this popup window. I hope this helps

Try right clicking on the program and choose Run as Administrator with a left click. See if that does it.

Win 7 is a lot different then previous versions. I've had to do the Run As Admin to do really simple things....

From the description of your issue it sounds as though the files you trying to make changes to are "READ ONLY" files. For example, if your put a Word document onto a a CDR disk and copy that file back to your computer it will be set to READ ONLY because files on a CDR disk are always READ ONLY. (CDRW disks can have READ WRITE permissions)
