    Hi Dj Viper
Welcome to the boards. You'll have to change your default browser if you want to open links with Internet Explorer all the time?

    Hi Dj Viper,

You can edit your prefs.js file located in your Users folder to force Netscape to ask if it is the default browser.

    First:
    Close Netscape
BACKUP PREFS.JS BEFORE PROCEEDING TO EDIT!

Open the file in Notepad or some and find the line that reads:

    user_pref( "browser.wfe.ignore_def_check ", true);

Change the true to false and save the file.

If the line above is NOT there then you must ADD it to the prefs.js file after changing the "true" to "false "

    Start Communicator
It should ask to become the default browser
Indicate "NO" that it should NOT become the default browser.

    OR....

    Open Internet Explorer
Click on 'Tools' on the menu
    Select Internet Options
    Click on the 'Programs' tab
At the bottom will be a white box that says:
"Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" - make sure the box is checked
    Close Internet Explorer
    Open it again
A small box will pop up saying that "IE V.X (X being your version number) is currently not your default browser, would you like to make it your default browser?" Click "YES" and close Internet Explorer

Let us know if you have more questions.

    Hi Dj Viper,

That should have worked, but here are a few more steps to try:

    1. The default browser is the one that handles .htm and .html extensions, as shown in Windows Explorer, under
    VIEW|FOLDER OPTIONS|FILE TYPES|NetScape Hypertext Document.

Check your Registered File Types and point them to Internet Explorer.
NOTE: use caution if you edit File Types. Copy the existing information first, so it can be replaced if necessary.

    2. Sometimes it's necessary to make I.E. the default first. Do that in Control Panel|INTERNET OPTIONS|PROGRAMS tab, by checking the box at the bottom.

Open I.E. and answer YES when it asks if it is to be the default. Then close it, and open NetScape. It should prompt for being the default. Answer NO.

    3. Check this Registry Key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\HTTP\Shell\Open\ddeexec\Application

Does the "Default" point to Netscape or IE?

    Nothing

    Hi, There

Try everything that you say but it doesn't help and the answer for number 3 is IExplorer.

Maybe it doesn't want to work on my machine.
