I am trying to install an old program (Verscheck 5.0) from the CD on a new system (wIN7) and the install is asking for a CD key that was on the original box, which was trashed long ago. The program still works just fine on an old Dell laptop running XP but the laptop is on its last legs. (The LCD inverter? went bad so now I'm using a 26" LCD as a display.) I tried digging in the registry myself with no luck. Then I tried a couple of free programs but they all seem to focus on the Window CD key.

Can the CD key for the software be recovered and if so how?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

ps. If this belongs in a different sub-forum please feel free to move.

SIW under Software > Licences may give you the key - or try Belarc Advisor

Call Versacheck and get an activation key. But first, see this Versacheck Page.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I won't be able to try them right away, (in-laws are in town) but hopefully I will get to it over the weekend.

Sure, you're welcome. Please let us know how it goes. (the software, not the in-laws)
