All of a sudden my last scan with Avast came up with 158 files that it could not scan because they were password Protected.

Can this be a virus? Last week I scanned and nothing like that came up.

    I am worried. Please help!

Sometimes the "Results" column shows you that a file could not be scanned e.g. a password-protected file, or a corrupted archive file, or it may show that something suspicious was detected in a memory file. This does not necessarily mean the file is infected.

Archive file is password protected - Some programs use password-protected archives to store their data (the password is hardcoded in the program) so such files may be reported even if you did not set the password yourself. avast! tells you that it wasn't able to extract the content of the archive, however the "wrapper" file was scanned.

I do not know what files they are. I only know they were not flagged by Avast last week.

Is it possible to let you see with this?

There are six more of these images plus one with two file names.

    What should I do?

From the image, there is no need to worry.

As eisneun has already said, Avast is trying to scan a password protected archive & is throwing up errors. This is normal.

Thanks for the help to both of you.

The only change to my computer was updating flash player, so I could not understand why all these errors when they never were found before. I just hate it when I scan and something is found.
