Hi, Can anyone tell me if XP Pro with 64bit system will run 4 gig of ram , I have seen that it will only handle about 3 gig?
    Thanks Des.

    Hi Des,

Windows XP 64bit will utilise more than 4Gb RAM (up to 16GB actually), I think you're confused with 32Bit systems. Though to be honest XP 64Bit is not the best choice for a 64bit operating system.

Just looked at your system specs, you're showing XP 32Bit:confused:

It is possible (and quite likely) that you have XP 32Bit installed on 64Bit hardware. If this is the case you are limited (by the OS) to ~3 to 3.5GB RAM.

If you wish to use more then switch to a 64bit OS but as I indicated previously XP 64bit would not be my first choice (it'd actually be bottom of the list).

Hi demon. FWIW I have an AMD 64-bit X2 processor running on the 32-bit version of Windows XP with 4 GB of RAM and its running great. Since I am running on the 32-bit version of Windows XP the computer only recognizes 3.25 GB of RAM.

You can bump your RAM up to 4 GB's but just note that not all of your RAM will be usable on a 32-bit Operating System. More information here, Clearing up the 32/64-bit memory limit confusion.
