Resolved Desktop shortcuts to web sites no longer work.

    The desktop shortcuts, in IE8, to several web sites no longer work. I get the message telling me that "Windows needs to know the program which created it, etc etc."

    Why has this happened and what can I do to fix it?

    Fixed it.

    A Goegle search provided a lead. IE was no longer the default browser for some reason. Selected it as default and the shortcuts now work correctly.
