Hi - I recently bought hardware for a RAID 0 system (Highpoint RocketRAID controller: RocketRAID 2640X4, 2x3TB Hitachi hard drives: 0S03230), installed the card and HDDs and set up the RAID 0 w/o any problems in the RAID BIOS.

After copying ~4TB of data to the 6TB RAID, I copied a bunch of new files to my external drive (4TB) and also deleted some files, then used ADCS (www.heatsoft.com) to sync the RAID with the external drive (I've probably used this program 1000 times before w/o ever any problems). Worked fine, then opened the RAID drive through My Computer, lo and behold, only one file on the drive! Despite Windows Explorer saying ~4TB was used, which was/should have been correct. Reboot, now the drive is completely gone.

I go back into RAID BIOS, set up the RAID 0 again, but now the 2 separate drives are showing up in Comp. Management. I'm waiting for a response from Highpoint tech support, but was wondering if anyone had any clues (what the problem is and how to fix it).

    Thanks, Dave

I wouldn't want to guess, but it looks like the RAID wasn't set up properly, or else there was some failure that 'broke' the RAID array.

If you have 2 drives showing in Disk Management, RAID 0 hasn't been setup properly.

Not sure what it could be - it worked the first time (one 6 TB drive) and I used the same procedure to re-build the array at which point it started showing up as 2 drives. I followed the manual's instructions too both times.

I would start again from scratch, or wait for the vendor to respond.

Well I've reached my patience limit with HighPoint's tech support, which is horrendously terrible, and plan on just returning the drives for now. Their system is only online and it takes about 48 hours for a response (plus I can't login around about 1/4 of the time).

Even if I completely start over (reinstall the card etc.), after having copied my data which disappeared w/in 24 hours (luckily I had a backup), I wouldn't trust it at all.

    Thanks for the advice though.
