[Error Code 651 on PPPoE connection]

    Error Code In Windows 7 Home Premium
    Just purchased my first laptop and am attempting to connect to the internet via a DSL GNET Modem using PPPoE. When I attempt to connect to the internet I get Error Code 651: The modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error. Any ideas on a fix for this. Odd to get a new system and an error code so soon.

    System Overview:

    Toshiba Satellite Notebook
    AMD Phenom (tm) II N870 Triple Core Processor
    2.30 GHZ
    64 Bit OS

    Did you get SP1 installed? I'd try that first.

    There are many 'solutions' posted on the Internet, I find this page quite good. Note the warning on replacing raspppoe.sys.

    From the above page I'd try #3, 6, 7, 9 or 10

    Installed Sp1, no change. Followed suggestions on link, no change. Returned pc for refund but my IPAD never gives me issues on 3G thankfully. Not sure if a Mac OS on a laptop would give me the same issue. I was actually able to connect but only for very brief periods.
