    Hi

I have a Cannon digital camera that uses a SD card, I have noticed that even though I have photos on it (that I can see on my computer,) I cannot see them on the camera. I used to be able to see them but now I cannot. I had so many photos on the card that I deleted a large amount of photos.

I thought that If I format the card I may be able to use it for storing photos once more, but I do not know if formatting a memory card is possible.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Best bet to ensure compatibility Ann is to format the card from your camera, the user guide should have instructions.

Hi Ann, I agree with wildfire, I do it all the time - when I switch on the camera, I turn the rotary control to SET and I have the option to FORMAT. This clears ALL photos from the SD card and you have like new ability.

If you had the camera connected to your comp when you Deleted photos - you may have done the Delete on the card in the camera at the same time.

I always do my Format on the camera separately. I quite often Download photos to the comp > view > then Delete the ones I don't like/want.

I use Picasa and there are options to Remove from Disc or Album Folder.
    Cheers Neil.;)

Thanks to you both for your replies. I am glad I asked before trying to do so.
The Sim card actually has the photos because I can see them when I use the computer, but I can't see the same photos when I use my camera.

I have already switched to another Sim card but I really would like to keep the photos from the old card on my camera, too.

That's probably because you reformatted the card on the computer. The camera may or may not recognise computer format.

As already suggested, take a backup on your computer, insert the card back in camera, format it & then restore pictures from your computer. Hopefully everything would be ok. :)
