When I attempt to connect to the audio of a county meeting I receive the following message:

â€Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The server might not be available or there might be a problem with your network or firewall settings.â€

I then see that I need the following:

“Listen to Volusia County Council meetings or workshops live. You must have Windows Media Player 6.0 or higher to tune in to the meeting. If you do not have Windows Media Player, click here to download a free copyâ€

I go to that link and do the following:

Windows Media Player 6.0 or higher
    Media Feature Pack
    Run Validation Tool
    Validate
    Window 6.1 KB968211 "“x64 Refresh Pkg. msu
    Download (takes 8 minutes)

After all that I received the following message:

“The update is not applicable to your computerâ€

    What am I doing incorrectly?

Thanks for the input. I won't be able to try this again for 2 weeks (next meeting). I checked with the county people and they said everything was ok on their end. If I have ant luck I'll let you know.

    All I get is:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

I have uninstalled and re-installed WMP 11 and still get the same message

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

    :(

For codec problems you can download & install either Win7codecs or K-Lite Codec Pack. This should solve most of the codec problem.

Then you can try K-lite Codec pack.

    Out of ideas here.

The only thing can think of now is to ask the county council people the codec that is required & the url from where to get it.
