Firefox update problems?

Firefox 5.01 is suppose to be available, but, on my computer with 5.0 when I go to about firefox and check for updates I get message that no updates are available. On another computer, this one I have firefox 3.6.18 and when I check for updates I get message that no updates are available.

I can download 5.01 from the firefox web site, but, If I go this route will It install over the current 5.0 on one computer and over the current 3.6.18 on the other.

On both I was waiting for the new firefox to be compatible with Norton taskbar 5.6, which 5.0 is now compatible. I left 3.6.18 on the other computer for awhile to see if 5.0 would work properly. It seems to work just fine except the the check for updates. What is going on with firefox? Is it time for me to switch to Chrome?

 

Mozilla pushes out auto updates only after a couple of days. The newer version may be available for downloading but update would continue showing you the no update is available.

Downloaded & installed FF 5.0.1 yesterday.

I must add that several of the current addons that we use including the download managers and java console are yet incompatible with version 5.0.1.

 

I have Firefox 5.0 on my win 7 machine and it states Firefox is up to date.
So I don't worry about that, it will update when its ready to do so.
