Only Contributing Members can post attachments - the workaround is to post on a photohosting site and to post the URL here.

    When you say ....
did you by any chance use a Registry Cleaner??

Your other option as you have a retail XP CD - can't run System File Checker otherwise, is to make a Repair of XP.

    Excellent :)

My last suggestion remains current - Repair XP.

What is the Service Pack level of your OS? SP2 or 3 and what is the Service Pack level of your installation CD?

Since SP3 and Internet Explorer 7 a repair has become somewhat complicated and, as you are unable to uninstall programs through Add/Remove Programs maybe impossible in your case.

When making a repair install using an SP2 disk it is necessary to do one of two things .....

Uninstall SP3, IE8 & IE7 to roll back to IE6 - then run a repair install followed by reinstallation of SP3 & IE8. This you cannot do.

The other option - to slipstream SP3 into your install CD may also not be possible as your disk is presumably from Dell and not retail.

I will need to look further to see if I can find another method of repairing Add/Remove Programs.

I am busy on other things right now, but will try and get back to you tonight.

I have scoured the web looking for a soultion to this. There are many folk out there with the same problem, but no definitive solutions apart from making a clean install of Windows.

    Two thoughts though ....

If this is a recent problem you could try a System Restore to a date prior to the issue arising.

As a workaround it would be interesting to see if Revo Uninstaller (freeware version) would be able to uninstall the programs.

    HI,
For the time being you can use this :-
    http://www.revouninstaller.com/
Its free and works great. Also most programs come with their built in uninstallers, located in their respective folders in program files folder on the drive. You could use them as well.
