In the course of using Acronis, I checked to see if I could restore a file and it put a folder on my desktop called C:, which contained limited data from my C drive and the file I restored for fun. I do not want this folder on my desktop or anywhere else, but when I try to delete it I get a message that it contains windows system data that may interfere with my using windows. All of the data in this file remains on the real C drive but with a later date. How do I get rid of this thing? Thanks.

Wonder how could you create a folder C:. Windows won't allow it.

The dates on the files in that c folder are old dates, not current. I was able to rename the folder from "C" to "remnant ". Strange!

I can delete everything except for the folder "Crypto/RSA" which contains MS stuff. Do you know what these folders are for?

Try deleting them in safe mode. If it fails, boot from a live Linux cd & then delete them.
