Windows Vista Vista SP2 will not install

Vista machine has started acting up.
Right click My Computer and Properties, the system does nothing. Going to Control Panel and System, it'll come up.
That's the lesser of the 2 problems.

SP2 will not install. I've tried online update and the executable downloaded from Microsoft.

When online, it just fails. Code 5 unknown error.
When I use the executable: "Windows cannot access the device, path, or file. You may not have sufficeint..." DO I REALLY NEED TO FINISH THAT LINE?!
The only account on the computer is an Administrator. And the option to unblock is selected.

What gives?

 

Here's the last lines of the file starting when I clicked WIndows Update and seeing I had 1 to install...SP2. Should I have attached as a text file or is this readable?

I am unable to post either file generated by the verbose logging as the site has a limit on size.
How can I get these to you?

So I just searched the log for "error" and here are the codes I found.

For the simple desire to NOT have to deal with Microsoft, I've decided to take your suggestion on format and clean install. There's no telling what else might have been wrong with system files, etc...
