    okay ... tried to reinstall but it wouldn't. So uninstalled then downloaded and installed.

    Hi Broni

    Windows updates still wont install - from balloon or on shutdown. Auto updates are greyed out still. PSI tell me that .NET requires updating and this is what most of the updates are. Apparently I need .NET 2 and 3.5 .. I tried downloading them direct to install but errors telling me I dont have the program on the pc to update.

    I have attempted to do defrag as you directed but it gets as far as about 13% then stops. It remains very red.

    arrggg maybe I need a new laptop

    OK, let's clarify couple of things...

    1. Try defragging from Safe Mode, but...later.

    2. Updates. Are you saying, that all updates, which don't want to install are related to .NET Framework?
    What does exactly happen, when you try to install them?

    These are what do not install. No other updates are offered.
    On updates - goes thru the download and then tries install. Message is Failed.
    When I downloaded and tried installing it errored with I do not have compatible program.

    Let's try cleaning up your .NET framework...

    Download, unzip, and run the dotnetfx_cleanup_tool. It will remove the .NET framework from your computer so that we can reinstall it later.

    After running this cleanup tool, it should ask you to reboot. Please do so.

    Next, download and install dotnetfx35.exe. This will reinstall the .NET framework onto your computer. Note: this is a large file, and could take some time to download depending on the speed of your internet connection.

    After another reboot, download and install dotnetfx35setup.exe. This will update the .NET framework to version 3 SP1.

    If you need any more updates for the .NET framework, Windows Update should find it for you (assuming updates are set to automatically download and install).

    okay .. finally finished! Seems all the updates are done. The windows autoupdates is greyed out to downoad and ask to install. Seems I can no longer chose to change this setting. Prolly best!

    I'll try a defrag in safe mode next?

    auto updates running :c) updates site is just rolling ... Checking for the latest updates for your computer... but that seems a site issue not a pc prob.

    Download BlueScreenView (in Zip file)
    No installation required.
    Unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
    When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
    Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
    Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.
