This is not an earth shattering inquiry but I would like some input as to the following. I do a lot of video conversions and have two PC to use.
    #1 is an AMD Phenom 9750 CPU @ 1.21ghz with 3.0gb ram. I am using Windows XP Pro V. 2002 SP3.
#2 is an INTEL Pentium 4 CPU @2.40ghz with 2.50gb ram. It uses the same OS.
If I use #2 to convert a video file to say PSP, the time is takes to complete is about 3x the time it would have taken if I used the #1 computer. Given what is shown here, I don't understand why #2 is slower than #1. Both are virus clean as well as spyware, maleware, etc. THKS.

The simple answer is those are two completely different classes of processor. One of them is much newer, a different generation and more efficient. That is all the clock speed discrepancies are telling you.

A more complex answer might involve which disks you're using or even graphics cards if there is rendering involved.

The bottom line is these speed differences are normal.
