When I installed programs using CD they installed under Start/Programs/Name of Program -- all except Office 10 (XP/2002--ugh!) It installed under "Program Files ".

I already had Office 2000 in the Start/Programs, so I supposed Office 10 found its way into Program files (through My Computer/C:/Program Files. Anyway, how do I move it to the Start menu? And so that it won't conflict with Office 2000; or should I leave it alone and take the long way to get to it through Mycomputer?

    Make sense?

Right click on Start, select explore.

Explorer will open with the Start Menu highlighted. Highlight Programs and go to right pane, right click select New Shortcut.

Browse to the executable for Office 10 and finish making the shortcut. Close everything out and click on Start/Programs and Office 10 should now be listed.

Right click and select sort by name and it will go to alphabet order.

    Billl thanks

I have both Office XP & 2000 running but they're both under one Start programs folder = MS Office. In order to open either the 2000 or the XP, I have to go into Explore/Programs/MS Office/and choose the folder (Office or Office 10)
Can I create a subfolder under the Start Programs bar that will house Office XP separate from 2000; in other words have a Start programs folder that is named "Office 2000" and the other "Office XP" but Office XP would be in its separate Start programs folder, so when I want to open XP I can w/o going through the Start/Programs/MS Office folder.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Hey Sal

    You might try this:

Open explorer and right drag the XP folder to the Start button and hold until it opens up and drag to the spot above the Programs and drop. It will make a short cut folder with all subfolders. Do the same with 2000.

I didn't think you could put two versions of office on the same computer. Live and learn, I guess.

    I was surprised too

I thought that by installing Office XP first and THEN installing Office 2000 that they would create separate start program folders. I know it worked that way with 97 and 2000. I had separate program folder on the start programs for 97 and ditto for 2000.

But this new setup is a real doozy. They both, 2000 & XP are in one start program folder and I have to click the MS Office button and go into the folder and open each program separately.

Er - how about desktop shortcuts and don't worry about where the app is located? And if you use either or both a lot, drag a copy of the shortcut to the quick-start section of the taskbar.

I just found out it can't be done!

The way the files are located in each folder you can't drag the complete full program to the desktop. You have to drag each program to the desktop.

    I'll keep working with it.
