I am looking for software which will help me and my computer co-exist efficiantly.
I don't know if anything even excists. I have searched the internet, but have not yet found such software or for that matter found the key word or phrase which allows a search engine to lead me to my destination.
I am not looking for any kind of AI software. Just wish my computer could pay more attention to what is I am doing with in its systems and adjust its function accordingly.
For example I will be online downloading software of interest to me and it will decide at that moment in time to download an update and narrow my bandwidth which is important, but could it of been done while I was chatting with someone earlier or I will be offline and it will insist we need to update something now and could not of done it the last time we were online or next time. One more example is I will be doing something watching a movie, playing a game, writing a letter and it will interupt me to tell me it wishes to restart or it will start the screensaver or slow its system doing something in the background.
This is why I would love to find some software to help me solve these issues and maybe even discover whats going on behind the sience, was hoping that in a forum of this nature some one out there would know what I am thinking and could help me. I don't remember my windows 2000 having all theses issues

    thank you

You will not find such software for Windows XP.
Windows 7 is more "user aware" in that many such processes that "interupt" run silently in the background.

The only way bto really control what interupts you while using your computer is to do the reverse of what you're looking for, i.e. the user should become aware of what Windows is doing and manually configure settings for Windows programs and services, and same for 3rd party software programs. Then and only then can one have the desired user experience.

What TonyT is saying is, set your AV updates to times when you are not busy doing things on your computer, you could also set your MS updates to: Remind me when updates are available but let me choose when to download and install them. This way you will not have the annoying interruptions that you outline.
You configure your computer the way you want it to do things.
    Good Luck

Thanks, but I am the master in this relationship not the computer also window 7, really I hate windows 7 its too interuptive its kind of like google trying to spell for me or my cell phone texting for me.
My brain work fine. I am not in that much of a hurry that technology needs to finish all my thoughts for me.
But really thanks again. I was kind of hoping by posting I would inspire some programer to make better software for better computering.

For Windows XP? An OS that was released 10 years ago and will be unsupported in another 3 years?

If you're smart, you know the answer to that.
