Many thanks to the Team for the good thoughts. Due to the time difference, I've enjoyed my day and feel I've achieved something as I'm ¾'s on the way to the century. Cheers Neil.

    A Place for Old Folks

MrBill: All the young people are on their smartphones, iPad's, etc. This is a place for us old guys and gals that still use "real" computers to come to play:rolleyes:

JohnB, You are right. I don't know how some of them can afford all the **** that they have with all the add ons they get for extra $$$. 2 tin cans and a string for a phone works for me. :D

JohnB, I know the feeling. My 40 year old son showed me his new cell phone last Sunday. 5 mega pixel camera inbuilt - internet capable - touchpad - all the bells and whistles and I said that all I wanted to do was talk (in an emergency) or text when being quiet on my Pre-Paid Nokia.
He got the phone trade with Vodaphone for $45 NZD.on a 2 year plan. I reminded him of Gigabyte costs which would blow his $45 monthly cost.
But hey - you've got to keep up with your mates these days.
Technology is moving a little too quickly for us pensioners to keep up with, so I'll just trundle along with my 2004 stuff. Cheers Neil.:D

    Dumb Phone

Hi Neil, I am with you on the simple "dumb" cell phone. My phone LG8600 (I think) doesn't even have a camera, you can text with it but it's not easy so I don't. I pay $20 CDN per month for 150 anytime minutes/month, free local calling where ever I am in British Columbia or Alberta, unlimited evening calls and 25 cents/min for long distance in Canada and to the US. They even send me birthday greetings:D . Oh, and you can even use it to talk to somebody:eek:

Simple, just the way I like it.

Crikey John B, my plan only costs me $AU 9.50 a month, and I never use half of the calls I get for that $5.-:D:D
Mind you I do have a wife and a daughter and I do talk to them, I prefer it to be personal.

Thanks wildfire, it's just clean living - yeah right - as our Tui beer ads say.
Hawk22, you know us Kiwi's have been ripped off for years by Telecom. We've got Telstraclear and 2° getting into them along with Mobile Phone Commission and the Termination charges are about to plummet very soon.
We've been paying 29cents termination fee between different phone coys for quite some time. A real rip off. Neil.

Thanks Bill for the thoughts and no - we are in Wellington - and it was a Tornado that hit Albany which is a Suburb of Auckland North of the harbour bridge.
Two people were killed and severe damage was done to a large shopping mall which was opened about 4 years ago. One of people killed was a father of two boys. He was picked up by the wind and carried some distance and then slammed into the ground. Truly a real loss.
Nothing in comparison to the Tornados that did their worst in the USA the other week.
We had a storm here last night and the usual flooding occurred in low lying areas around the city. All's well with us as we are in a suburb and we are on a height with clear views and good drainage. Neil.;)
