Not sure that this type of issue is dealt with on this site, but here is my problem..

I am using Microsoft Office Word 2007.. Vista Home Basic.

I am typing some manuscripts for a short story, and I would like to number the pages after the first page thus:

At top right, *my surname/page number*

Every time I try to do this, the same info would show up on the first page and when I erase it, it would also be erased from the 2nd page.

    Any help would be appreciated..

You must do it in a Header ....

On the ribbon bar click on Insert > Header and choose blank Header. Type your surname followed by a couple of spaces space(s) and then click on Page number in the ribbon bar and select Current Position and select Plain number in the table.

Highlight the header & page no and then click on Home in the ribbon bar and select Right align.

Click on Design in the ribbon bar and then on Different first page.

Close the header by doubleclicking in the body of the document and you should be good to go :) No name or page no. on the first page followed by Surname Page no on page 2 onwards.
