    Hi!
I'd be most grateful for your kind help and advice about adding a non-wireless PC to an existing wireless broadband home network. Earlier, I had set up wireless broadband at home on a laptop. Next a second laptop could also be added into the home network just by entering the password used when originally setting up the wireless broadband service. Kindly advise if addition of a wireless adapter card into a vacant motherboard PCI slot would be sufficient to extend internet access to this PC. Thanks very much for your time and kind consideration of my request for your helpful advice.

Shouldn't be too difficult. Install a NIC (network interface card), install any appropriate software, physically hook it up with a cable, log on to the network.

If you have an RJ45 connector on the back panel of your computer, it would indicate that the motherboard has builtin accessibility.
You must have a Broadband Router already installed with wireless aerial - and there should be RJ45 connectors in that. As second Post has stated - just plug in lead between PC and router.
I have Thomson ADSL2 broadband/wireless capable Router and my laptop can be either Wireless or hard connection (lead) and 4 other computers run off this Router. Neil.;)

Yes, if you have a free PCI slot you can install a wireless card in the slot and connect wirelessly. Easier yet would be to use a USB wireless adapter.

No ethernet ports on PC motherboard

Thanks very much for your kind responses.
I have a wireless adapter. Can this be used as a NIC. It worked on a newer PC ( about 6 years old), but the physical hook up via an ethernet port was also done. As there aren't any ethernet ports to the older PC ( its over 10 years old) I dont know how to do this advised hook up. Kindly let me have more details to carry this out, please. I am most grateful for your kind help and advice.

A NIC = Network Interface Card. You have a wireless NIC. It could possibly be installed and used, but it depends on the card itself and the operating system on the computer.

    Please answer:

    1. What brand and exact model wireless card do you have?
    2. What operating system is on the computer you want to use it on?
