I havd a Dell Latitude D600 with wimdows xp os and service pack 2. I can see the wireless network in my school but can not connect to it. Each time i tried to connect it wrote " WPA not supported by your wireless adapter ". Please what do i do to connect to this wireless. Thank you.

You most likely either have an older wireless card - an older b model not supported with wep or older sofware for the card

Here is the link to the Dell networking Drivers for your laptop

    http://dell.to/i91BgL

    Update the driver
It is usually either the broadcom or Intel yet called a dell
You can go to intel directly for perhaps newer drivers
If it is a b card and there is no support for WPA
you can update the card - buy one on ebay
You will have to snap the little pins in - and that is a trick sometimes
Remember to take the battery out
or easier you can buy a G PCMCIA credit card network adapter - few want these now as newer laptops either have usb and none of these slots
    or a usb network adapter
It all depends on your skills
Its a nice , well running laptop
If you do a manual choice windows update - it may find the new driver for you as well

Go to Control Panel > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager button.

Click the + sign next to Network.

Tell us the name for the wireless adapter in your computer and we'll let you know if the adapter will support WPA using updated drivers. Some do and some don't.

If after following TonyT's advice and your Wireless Adapter is compatible with WPA with updated drivers (all wireless adapters are WEP compatible) then I'd suggest asking your schools IT department for assistance, it's unlikely they'll downgrade from WPA to WEP though so don't expect miracles.

    Read post # 5.

Below has nothing to do with post # 5.
I doubt that you can upgrade your adapter. You could just disable it and buy you one of those USB type adapters and go that route.

That's a 80211b wireless card. It supports WEP only, 11 mb/sec. You won't find newer drivers for it that support WPA. Get a new card or get a usb dongle adapter, cheap ones cost about 15-20 dollars US.
