I am working on a Dell computer with Vista Home Premium. My issue is the Adobe Flash Player. The client is unable to view videos such as on YouTube. The computer has the latest flash player and when they go to YouTube there is a message that says to upgrade to the latest flash player. The computer did have some viruses which I removed using Malwarebytes and Superantispyware. I have uninstalled Adobe Flash Player, restarted the computer, downloaded and reinstalled Adobe Flash Player 10. But I still get the same message that I need to upgrade to the latest flash player. I downloaded the Adobe Flash Player 10 right from the Adobe.com website so it should be the latest. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi wyobison. What browser is the computer using to view videos on?

Is it Intenet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, etc? If the computer is using Internet Explorer then what version is installed?

To make sure that the Adobe Flash Player add-on isn't disabled open IE and click Tools< Manage Add-ons. When the Manage Add-ons window opens locate the Shockwave Flash Object add-on which is Adobe Flash Player. Make sure it is set to Enabled. Once done click the Close button. Restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.

MrBill....I tried that. Nothing different happened

The client had IE8 but I installed IE9 no difference. I looked at the add-ons and Adobe Flash Player is not even listed. I installed Firefox. First time opening Firefox it installed Adobe Flash Player add-on. Videos work fine. Using Firefox is a work around for the problem. But would still like to get IE9 to show videos.

I resolved the issue. I actually got these instructions from another site but thought I would post them here incase someone else needs it.

The key is using the executable installer for Flash rather than the ActiveX version.

    1.Uninstall Flash using - http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe

    2.Download SubInACL from Microsoft from - http://www.microsoft.com/...

    3.Install SubInACL.

    4.Download the reset_fp10.zip file from - http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/ts/documents/fb1634cb/reset_fp10.zip

    5.Extract the reset_fp10.cmd file to C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\.

    6.Double-click reset_fp10.cmd.

7.When it is finished you will see "Press any key to continue ".

    8. Download the executable installer for Flash Player from http://www.adobe.com/...

    9. Install and enjoy.
