she had no sound since the 14th and no virus, malware, trojans etc, broni and i made sure of that.
    shut her down yesterday
this morning i turned on the squid and she beeped and would not come on!
is there any hope for her?

mr bill she beeped as soon as i plugged into socket. and before i tried to get her on. and she had her keyboard and vmouse attached. i stole her mouse and removed the keyboard and forgot about it. that was a keyboard beep the first time.
i had tower and monitor on a squid, took monitor and put it on box and plugged tower direcly into wall socket. and she beeped, until i unplugged her
jiust retried starting her, sounds like 2short 1 long

Check that the monitor cable is well seated at both ends.

I had put the link in and hadn't click the Submit Reply but when I got a phone call and then somebody came by the house. They left and I came back into the room and clicked Submit Reply. That was probably a hour or so later. ;)

Two heads are better than one sometimes. Same line of thinking.

Why not try a 'Barebones" hookup?
See if it will work with absolute minimum. Then you can add CD/DVD ROM, Printer etc and see what works. Neil.

just the monitor connected to computer last time.earlier i had monitor, keyboard, mouse connected. same thing "no input" computer is just not talking to monitor or visa versa.
i'd really like to know if i "killed her "by having both sound card and intrgrated sound card,i guess both trying to work at the same time? did I?

Hi Jan, Please bear with me.
    Your OS is Windows 7?
What type of Monitor is installed?
    Is it powered separately?
You don't get one single beep when you switch on?
    What is a "squid "? Is this a Multi-plug connector panel with/without surge protection?
You tried another Monitor (Sony) and did not get a picture on the screen?
When you switch on the computer are there any LED's lighting up?

My thoughts are a suspect PSU.
As you said you could not hear any whirrs (Fans) or other noises in the computer.
Let me know if I have summed this up correctly. Neil.
