I'm running XP Pro, SP3, and IE8. My WMP 11 stopped recognizing DVD's and will not play. I've done everything I know to do from codecs, decoders, uninstall and reinstall, checked Direct X, and have run all test with positive results. This thing is driving me crazy, all test play perfectly but all DVD's will not. You would think it was a failure to communicate but I don't know where. I would appreciated any help offered.

Thanks to anyone willing to give advice, it is getting on my nerves!!!

When you insert a DVD into the drive is it recognised in Windows Explorer and can you open it to view the contents ?

If the DVD is not being recognised in Explorer the odds are that the DVD side of the drive has failed - are CD's recognised? CD?DVD drives are literally dual drives using a separate laser to read/write CD's & DVD's.

They are recognized, and I finally got them to play in classic player but the quality is not where it should be.
