The XP on my PC was set up by its supplier, and I log in as 'User' because it was not set up with my name as a user.

However, I have just noticed that, under 'My Computer' is a folder 'Tony King's Documents' which not only contains all the documents held under 'User/My Documents', but each time I change, add or delete anything in 'User/My Documents' it is immediately reflected in 'Tony King's Documents', and vice versa.

This folder is completely extraneous, so can I delete it? How is it linked (automatically) to 'Tony King's Documents?

    It's like a shortcut/mirror of the original - not a copy.

Hi Steve, and thanks. After I posted that question I realised that a 'Tony King' account had been set up - it's just that as I am the only account I don't see it on login as XP goes straight in. I appreciate that that is what XP does, one just wonders why?

A related question is that there is a 'guest' account, but the only way to access it is to select 'logoff' and then 'switch user' - after which both my and the guest account are offered. Why isn't the guest account an option at switch-on? I've tried activating the guest account but it makes no difference.
