Computer refuses to update and "shut down"

Hello BBS, this is my first time here and sadly I am in need of assistance with my computer. I have a custom built computer made in January of this year and it has begun to have many issues. After countless hours of google, I decided to reformat it. Now all clean, my computer is starting to have new issues. I have 65 windows updates that my computer wants to install and as I hit the shutdown button so that it can, one of these two events happen will happen:

1. It will "install" the updates, power down, then when I reboot it, it will give me an error stating the updates failed to install.

2.It will stay in the "Logging off" screen. I waited about 40 minutes before holding the power button down to close it because I believe it was going nowhere.

As I have reformatted my computer, I believe viruses or malware should not be the issue. The "Windows repair" has appeared once and could not fix the issue. All it did was restart the computer.

Would someone please assist me with this problem? I will gladly be willing to give out any needed information. I have filled out my computer specs to the best of my knowledge, so please review it. I can still use the computer but hope to fix this issue before it escalates to something worse. I would hope to avoid bringing it to a shop as it is a big hassle and my tower is unnecessarily heavy. This is my first custom built computer and I am starting to regret it honestly, though I know it would be my fault for being inexperienced in this field.

 

Sorry for the late reply. I have tried the instructions and was able to download SOME of the updates. It will tell me Some updates were not installed with the error code 8007318. I have also been getting blue screens now when I restart my computer on boot up.

Have you tried doing a system restore (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore)? Particularly since you are now getting bluescreens.

I have followed your instructions and after updating my BIOS, I get the message "Reboot and select a proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key ". I already went into the BIOS setup and hit "Load Setup Defaults ". Now I cannot pass this screen, how can I fix this?
