    Its been so long since I lost it I can't remember what it was excatly called. When you recieved emails it would automatically put the email addy in a general folder called, I think, "Collected address "?

    Anyways, I went to make a new folder for my family email address, which I mucked up but finally was able to get it right. Thats when I noticed it had gone.
    Now, when I get email from people it doesn't store the addy in a general folder for me to sort out latter.
    Anybody know how to get it back or how to setup a folder to collect the email addies automatically?

    Running Win 98 se
    NS 6.2

    Thanks

    Hi Health Hill,

    The Collected Addresses, located in your Profiles Folder, is called history.mab. Check the Properties of the file, as it may be "Read Only" . If so, disable the "Read Only ". Open the file in Notepad, see if any addresses are there.

    To activate Collected Addresses:

    Edit|Preferences|Mail & Newsgroups|Addressing

    Under "Email Address Collection "
    select your preferences there.

    You might want to consider upgrading to Netscape 7.01 when it is released. The 7.0 Mail & Newsgroups are much more stable than Netscape 6.x, and certainly less buggy!

    Hi Ramona,

    Thanks for the help. First, I checked if it was read only, it was and I disabled that. I opened it up in notepad and all the address were there. Checked under addressing, and incoming and outgoing collect addresses boxes were checked.
    Closed NS down and restarted, hope to see a new address book or at least all the address back in one of the address books, but no.

    I've added a new address book called, you guessed it, "Collected Addresses ". Hoping, after restarting that it would be filled up but it didn't help.

    Any other suggestions?

    Hi Hill,

    Delete the new "Collected Addresses" that you created.

    Close Netscape and browse to the history.mab file.
    Rename the file Xhistory.mab

    Open Netscape and ensure that a new Collected Addresses folder has been created. Netscape will create a new file. When you open it, the Collected Addresses will be empty.

    Close Netscape
    Browse to the Xhistory.mab file
    Copy all the information after these (or similar) lines:

    <(80=0)>
    {1:^80 {(k^AD:c)(s=9)}
    [1:^82(^AC=0)]}

    What you copy should look similar to the following:

    @$${1{@

    <(84=1)(81=Ramona)(82=)(83=ramona@somewhere.com)>
    {-1:^80 {(k^AD:c)(s=9)}
    [1:^82(^AC=1)]

    etc.
    etc.
    etc.
    etc.
    @$$}1}@

    After you have copied the information
    Open the new history.mab file
    Paste the information directly after the lines:
    <(80=0)>
    {1:^80 {(k^AD:c)(s=9)}
    [1:^82(^AC=0)]}

    Save the file. Hold your tongue exactly right... open Netscape and your Collected Addresses will be in place.

    I just tried this myself, and it is 100% fool proof. Good luck!

    Thanks a ton Ramona!

    I got it working and now have a collected addresses folder.
    Haven't had any time to really sit down and try to decifer where to cut and paste the jibberish of the history.mab file. But, I will soon enough.

    Thanks a bunch
