I have 5 of my desk top PCs running Win XP Pro. While updating one of them, it requsted for a restart.During booting it came up with instruction that a file is missing, and that i should boot from the original CD ROM of the win xp and press r .
I have all the CD but not labelled. Is there a way i can identify particular one may be from the working ones

Hi ! I think you should have to be check all the CD's and the one which is working, you should have to mark it on the CD so in future, if you want to use than you can easily find that among 5, which is working.

thanks, booting from one of the CD did not take me to recovery console, rather i have the options to press continue to instal or F3 to exit set up, when i selected continue it gave me option to select partition >>> to format. So i terminated the operation to seek help.
However my original question is not addressed, if i fail to label my CD and PC at installation, is not posible to identify the cd used:confused with activation codes?

Please give details of the problem system, particularly if it has a PATA (commonly known as IDE) or SATA hard drive?

You don't need any particular version of nero as long as your burning software can handle ISO's (most if not all will).

Try slipdtreaming again and burn the CD at a lower rate, such as 16x.
