Hello there, not sure whether this applies to the Win XP forum or hardware becuase I think it is primarily a Win XP problem.

I had a Leadtek Winfast GeForce 4 and an old S3 Virge running on a Windows 2000 system together with no major problems (except the old S3 couldn't handle high res stuff!)

Anyways, since upgrading to Windows XP Professional edition I cannot get both cards to start up, by changing the boot card in the Bios (an Asus A7V) only that card that booted will start up, the other card is listed in device manager as 'the device could not start'.

I believe it may have something to do with IRQ sharing as I think the old S3 doesn't like sharing an IRQ as I'm sure the GeForce 4 has no problems. Could someone be kind enough to tell me if its possible to define an irq for a device in windows XP.

    Thanks in advance!

    Maybe this will help:
I had problems with 3dfx card on W98. I had to remove it from my computer. Reinstall Windows. Put it back. Then it worked.
It didn't work when I installed Windows with the card inserted.

Thanks for the reply. I have already tried swapping slots, reinstalling drivers and the like, but this doesn't stop Windows XP allocating the same irq to the devices. I had tried to force the BIOS to allocate the IRQs but this doesn't seem to affect XP..
