Dell Vostro v13 ethenet connection problem

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can not get it to recognize the connected cable. The router works with other computers, the cable works with other computers, and my computer says the adapeter is working properly. I uninstaled and reinstalled and udated driveers. Same results. The adapter is a Realtec PCIe GBE Family controller. When I go to advanced properties, I see many options of things to enable or disable. They are greek to me. I feel something is not enabled correctly. Can anyone tell the the correct setup to get this to work?
    Thanks,
    Bill

When I try to open internet explorer, it say windows cannot open this website, and it gives the the "Diagnose Problem screen ". I try that, and it says windows could not find the problem, please contact your network administrator.

Press Winkey + R. You should get a run prompt window. Type cmd & press enter.

    Fyi

My ehternet adapter was fried. Never had this happen in all my years of computing. It showed working preperly in Device manger properties. Go figure.
