We have an HP Pavilion 6333...AMD-K6 2/300 processor, 64mb SDRAM, 6GB hard drive, 32x speed CD-ROM, V.90 K56/flex modem, and an HP Printer/Scanner/Copier. I am curious about adding a CD-R/W so that we can store digital pics, and music on CD. This would also mean adding software for music stuff for the hubby, which we know little about. I know we have an "old" system now, and a "slow" one...it is fine for internet and what we do (internet, email, a few low-level games, digitals, and playing with animations/sounds, etc.), but I feel that adding more (and already storing digitals on our hard drive) would be putting such a strain on this system, that it wouldn't run well. Can anyone advise as to upgrading, and if so, what (remember, I am an IDIOT, so speak simply, please :), (I don't even know which features listed above I would upgrade!) Also, advice on what type of CD-R/W to get, or MP3 set up/software/equipment, etc.? Would we be able to support it without upgrading? Should we be thinking of a whole new system at some point soon (maybe before adding the CD-R/W?) Or are we just too ignorant to deserve to own a computer??? :)
Thanks for any input you can give!!!

    Hiya Barb,
Right off the bat, I'd think another 64 of Ram would help quite a bit. How much room do you have left on that hard drive?

More RAM would surely help. But actually you're ready to install CD-RW drive!

    Hi Barb
I've been struggling with a proper way to reply. Changing Ram (Or adding) is actually quite easy, though you will have to have the right kind for your particular machine.
If you're considering also getting a re-writer, perhaps you can take it into a local shop and have them do both for you at the same time?
