My PC always gets into "checksum error" ... "date and time not set" (By the way, I've read all other threads related to this one and followed them all)

i've bought new batteries 2 times (cr2032) and replaced the old one and did the BIOS setup, cleared the BIOS jumper, reseated them all but it still shows back when turning it on after 15 minutes of not using it. i've used virus scan and malware removal tool and still no effect. by the way the old battery was really drained it was a KTS cr2032 and it had peppered like surface (not totally flat, hope you've encountered them) on one side , the new batteries were not (completely flat) energizer and maxell. don't know if that matters. now i'm not really aware of what was enabled and what was not in my BIOS setup before it was doing fine.

    here's my system

    proc:AMD athlon le1640 2.7 gh
    mobo:asrock ALIVE NF7g HD720p r2
    memory: 1G ddr2 kingmax
    HARDRIVE: Excelstor Tech j340
OPTICAL DRIVE: SONY RW DRU V200A
OS: XP profesional SP3 32 bit
    POWER SUPPLY: Cool Power 500w

    hope you'd help me

When you go into the BIOS - is the time "off? "

Did the original battery maybe look like it had leaked? How about the battery holder thing.. Does it look like parts of it have been eaten away?

yeah i've checked on that too. the battery does not look like it leaked. battery holder completely looks normal, no formations/damages whatsoever.

i did try look into the battery and battery holder again that means i took the battery out of its seat. upon startup it went straight, no checksum error whatsoever.

by the way, the HD goes (after startup) like its going for a revolution (like a car revving up for the first time) the sound will peak but goes down in no time.

    PC's fine no crashes whatsoever.

I would make sure the jumper is returned to the right pin or pins. If you are certain it is, then your motherboard is bad and the voltage that is supposed to hold the CMOS settings, for some reason, does not appear on the CMOS, and the CMOS "forgets" as soon as you power off.

You are "Saving" upon exit from the BIOS Setup Menu, right?

yes sir, im saving before exit.

well so far so good this morning. checksum error didn't show, went straight.
i guess i kinda (even before i consulted you guys) increased the angle of the metal thing right under the battery too much thinking it would hit and take a firm grip of the battery for sure. so i kinda adjusted it low yesterday. but i'll still have to see it tomorrow if it really worked.
