Hi All, ............... I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium and writing this with Internet Explorer because my recent Firefox installations have problems. The same situation arises with either FF v. 3.6.14 or v.3.6.15. I cannot activate any links in Thunderbird. For example those links given in response to Westsides', recent "All sort of updates." One more example, the link given by MrBill's reply to the recent problem by jillfiredup.

Additionally, I cannot have two FF screens active (one minimized) at the same time. In fact, with one FF screen showing, I must reboot to get to a different FF site. I tried changing my profile in FF 3.6.14 without any change in the conditions. I also ran a full computer antivirus scan with Microsoft Security Essentials which showed no problems. And I have to say neither of these conditions exist with Internet Explorer.

Unless someone has a solution to the above conditions I would like to drop back to an earllier FF and would appreciate any suggetions.

Using Vista Home Premium I started having problems after installing firefox 3.6.15. Immediately My Norton said that plugin-container.exe was too new and not yet evaluated. Then firefox would stop responding. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked one time and started graying out. In answer to your question go to Mozilla Firefox help and/or google for older versions of firefox, which i did and found 3.6.14, so I downloaded and saved it and then uninstalled 3.6.15 and installed 3.6.14, went to tools, options, advanced, updates and unclecked automatic download and installed and checked ask me what to do. Maybe you could install an earlier version of firefox to solve your problem.

However, 3.6.15 is suppose to have the latest security updates, but, since it does not want to work on my system I went back to 3.6.14, which seems to be working ok.

    Is Windows 7 at fault?

Marv6 Thank you for your input. As you will see below, in a sense I have followed part of your suggestion. This involved installing Firefox, version 3.6.13, in Windows 7. The problems still remain.

I have a dual boot system using Windows 7 and Windows XP. Most of my work is done with Win7 and it is here that FF versions 3.6.14 and 3.6.15 (one or the other) have been installed. But if I use WinXP it has Firefox v.3.6.13 installed and in WinXP the problems given in my initial Post do not exist. So this leaves me with a situation that I'm not sure what to do next. The idea of starting over with Win7 and losing everything that has been added to Win7 is not too appealing. If anyone has further suggestions as to how to solve this condition, it will be appreciated.

There is no issue in my XP. By the way, 3.1.15 has a single fix, which affected some people. It takes care of some cases where Java loading was a problem. It is not a security problem.
As for the possible Windows 7 problem, I would try mozillazine.org site. I have not heard of your problem at Sillydog.com
