guys, i have some problem here

I have a problem with my wireless router, I can not connect to the internet via wireless router, while I can connect to the internet directly using lan cable, without going through the wireless router

after I ping the ip listed on the wireless router, the result is ping transmit failed, general failure

after that I try to connect your directly from the wireless router using a dsl cable to the computer, and run the network troubleshooter, I find the problem:

local area connection doesn `t have a valid ip configuration

help me please, i know nothing about computers :(

ps: (sorry for my bad english)

A quik and simple way to try to fix your problem is to reset your wireless router back to factory default and then run the setup disk again.

You will have to reconnect your PC's and other wireless devices, but it is the fastest and least painful way to resolve the problem and get back to surfing the web.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS.:)
What shows when you > Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Do you have a Wireless Network Connection showing?
If you Right click on it - click on Repair. Cheers Neil.

ps. I'm assuming you are using Windows XP - Tonys request should be followed.

    Hi Adheen,
I did not notice in your posting if you are having this issue with a Laptop or a Desktop computer ? When you post back with the previous requests for information, can you please add that info...Thank you.

first step is to change the channel from channel 6 default for most - interference from other signals
change the channel to anything else
Channel 1 and 11 are first choices
You may have to reboot the router for changes to take effect
You may want to set up first with the security off just to verify that you can log on

Sorry but the OP's first step should be to answer Tony's questions. From there we would be in a position to give more precise instructions.

(methinks too many cooks in this thread  and now I've added to them )
