I am using a M$ Office Keyboard and the the latest Intellitype Drivers v2.2.

O.S. Is Windows XP (Home) w/ SP1 installed.

I have two seperate questions if I may?

    1. Is there any way to save all the custom Key Settings so that if a system crash happens you can simply locate ths saved settings and replace them? I have looked many times within the Keyboard Folder and find no .ini or .dat file that might be holding all my savings?

    2. I notice that if I use my Mute or the Plus and Minus Volumn Controls I loose all my custom key settings. To get them back I simply have to go back into the Intellitype program and access any of the custom keys. Thus for all intensive purposes my volumn and mute is of no value.

I have my Keyboard connected via a USB/PS2 Adapter as I am using the ASUS A7V333 Board withch supports a power on by simply pressing the space bar. This featue is only available if PS2 connection is used.

I did try using the USB connection without the PS2 adapter and the mute and volumn controls still cause the same problem as when connected via PS2 adapter?

I have already tried searching the M$ Knowledge Base for both of these situations.

Any help sure will be appreciated.

For the first problem you could try the File & Settings transfer wizard. It's a bit "sledgehammer to crack a nut" but I'm not familiar with the software you have to give a proper workaround.

    P.S. "M$" doesn't make you sound cool ;)

    Hello,

Thanks so much for the tip on trying the Files and Transfer Wizzard. I have also recently found out that if I use Add/Remover Programs to remove IntelliType it leaves behind the Folder within Windows Explorer. Here-to-fore I have always made it a policy to remove any tailings of programs manually but this time I left the folder and simply re-installed and my Key settings I had made previously remained.

Sorry I have affronted you by using the shortcut M$ -- I will continue to use this as I see no problems and was not trying to be cute.

    Regards,

    I checked it out.

    Hi again Cdrider

I have now used the Wizzard you spoke of. Should have read the instructions better :)

I missed the part about removing files that I didn't want copied and wound up with 6 1/2 Gigs over on my D: Drive:)

I purposly then removed IntelliType Pro v2.1 off my machine and checked back within Windows Explorer and indeed the "Keyboard" Folder was gone (which previously told you it was still there) must have been another of my "senior moments "

Anyway I have determined that the Key settings are being kept within Registry and that the only way I can really check this out is to hack the Registry or format the C: drive and start all over once again.

When I did finally figure out how to simply run the Wizzard again it saved a .dat and .img file to the Folder I had it extract to so I am thinking this just might be the proper fix next time I choose to blow up my system:(

I'm 63 now so stopped being "cool" about 40 years ago :)

Thanks again so very much for all your help and getting me on to this Wizzard thing.

    Regards
