I am working on a computer ... Dell Inspirion 531.
It will boot to the "Dell" screen but stops but will continue the boot process after 3 hours. The computer had bios 1.10.7 and I upgraded it to 1.10.13 thinking that maybe a virus had done something to the bios. but still have the same problem. After upgrading the bios the computer would boot after about 10 minutes. This worked a couple of times but now it takes 3 hours to get past the "Dell" boot screen. Is this a possible motherboard issue. There are a couple of USB ports that have quit working. When I did have the computer booted up I did a virus check and found and removed some viruses. Bios was updated twice once before and after virus check. This is why I am thinking something is wrong with the motherboard.
    Help!

Did the boot up delay state before or after the viruses?

I received the computer because the client said that the computer would not boot up. When I took it back to my office I turned it on and it stopped at the boot screen. I left it on and was going to deal will it later. When I went back 3 hours later it was at Windows Logon. So that is when I thought something must be going on with the Bios. So to answer your question before. I removed the viruses using Combofix, Malwarebytes and Superantispyware.

I would check the capacitors on the mobo for bulging or leaking.

I would start running the Dell diagnostics software. Looks like an EOL to me :D

Tried everything.....going to assume it is a motherboard issue.
