maybe someone can advise on this. I manage an network and people are installing things that crash the machines almost daily. I have deep freeze installed on them, but I am not happy with it - I need to activate/deactivate on a daily basis + I need to give my users some facility.

Would system restore a better solution? What is the best tool up there for fast, low space snapshotting and which supports virtually unlimited snapshots?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

Keeping the users from be able to install junk would be the way to go. Combined with a strict set of company guidelines on proper comuter use is also recommended.

Yea, seems education is in order. Users should realize that the computers are not their property, so they aren't allowed to install anything on it.

Better yet, just disable the ability for users to install stuff :D

This is the problem in schools, colleges or any public access computing environment. Although the computers are not the users property; users are allowed to use these systems for educational purposes.

If you are looking for something more flexible then deep freze then you should take a look at rollback rx. It comes with a remote management console as well for large deployments as well.

Rollback rx can be set to retore on a daily basis or on every restart as well. I use to like Goback; but ever since symantec took it over, I moved forward with rollback rx.

it's not that they want to install, but teens are visiting all crazy sites and not it's not viruses we need to worry about, but rather malware on websites.

I need to block so many sites, and then restore them, I got sick of it.

I put Rollback Rx over the weekend and until date seems like the best option for me. Quite happy with it.
