A grandchild accidentally broke my original CD of Flight Simulation X program. Since this program costs $40 I am loathe to buy a new one to back up the one on my harddrive. I checked a Win 7 "how to" book and it describes how to burn files to a disc, but no mention of "programs ". Since the two are not the same (at least, I don't think they are) I wonder how to proceed. Can anyone advise? Thanks.

You probably could back-up (copy) the directory the original FS is in, but you would be missing quite a few pieces of the program - .dll's, .sys files, and a multitude of others that are spread around when you install the program.
Alternatives? Find a friend with the program and copy their disk. Talk to Microsoft, they might be of some help in replacing the CD. If you registered the program when you bought it, you have proof that you are a legal owner. E-bay has some for 15.00 and up, chancy, but an alternative.

    Good Luck!

SKI Many thanks. Didn't realize program going for so little albeit E bay. I guess my best course is to shop the net and buy a new one. Thanks again.
