I have Orange broadband on my PC with an ethernet connection and this works fine. I have tried loading the Orange software on my laptop wifi connection and it looks as if it recognises it. The network connection status says : Status . connected, Network. Livebox 65E8 (which is the correct livebox ID). Speed 54.0 Mbps and signal strenght. Maximum (5 bars). All this looks perfect but when I try ta access a web address I get : Error 105 (net: ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED) The server could not be found.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong and how, if at all possible, I can resolve this problem.
    TIA

I don't load any of their junk. On the laptop, you should be able to go to Control Panel/Networking and set one up from there to see your Router. I am assuming you have a router as you did not mention one even though you said WIFI

Control Panel > Networking > rt click wifi adapter > select Properties > double click TCP/IP (Internet Protocol) > set to: Obtain IP address automatically & Obtain DNS server address automatically.

If use Internet Explorer go to Internet Options > Connections Tab > LAN settings > nothing should be set there, everything unchecked, especially if set to use a proxy server; don't use a proxy.

    Connected but isnt

Thanks for the input. I am running XP Pro SP2
I'm into control panel and have "Internet connections" and "internet connection wizard ", apologise for my lack of comprehension but I can't see "wifi adapter" mentioned in either of them - I have obviously misunderstood something and I'm still stuck!

If it's any help, when I right click on the connection icon at bottom right and clicking on the "repair" option, I eventually get the message "Cannot complete renewing IP address "

STOP PRESS - Following your guidance , problem solved using MS problem solver tab. I had also removed Zone Alarm. It appears that something had grabbed the necessary ports and stopped connection.
Thanks to your help - and a bit of luck I'm happily back in business.

    regards
