Solved Need help with white smoke infection

    I doubt. Probably, just a shortcut is gone.
    Check in "Program Files ".
    If anything, you can easily reinstall it.

    I checked the folder, the program is gone. I'm going to try to uninstall/reinstall it.

    Ok, Malwarebytes has been reinstalled. The machine seems to be performing well, hopefully white smoke is gone for good now. Any idea where it might have come from? This person doesn't do much web surfing, and most of the sites they visit are fairly normal, so it would be hard to believe it came from one of them.

    There are so many ways, a computer can infected, that there is no way to tell.
