    Hi,

I've been passed an Acer Aspire One Series model KAV60 running XPSP3.

The laptop freezes after about 2 minutes. I managed to get MBAM loaded but as soon as I ran it, it froze. If you run Checkdisk it freezes. It has a corrupt prefetch file that It won't let me delete. it has another file that is corrupt but it freezes before I can get to it. It won't open in safe mode with or without networking.

As usual any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Arie, I had a feeling that was the only way around it. I have to see if it came with any discs and take it from there.

    Cheers

    Ungrateful relative!

The laptop in question has now been returned to it's owner permanently! I made some headway with it using the Seagate diagnostic tools, they said it had problems on the hard drive. Several times I came in from work to find it had been taken back by it's owner. Only to have to wait 2-3 weeks to get it back again. Hence the long delay on finalising this thread. I have now given it back and told him to take it somewhere else where he will have to pay to get it repaired. Why he kept taking it back I don't know as it was unuseable. At least I now have more knowledge than before.

Thanks to everyone for the help received.

    Brian
