I have a Netbook with Windows 7 Premium Home edition. How do I adjust the settings for the mouse pad?

I want it to launch Outlook when I tap on the quick launch icon on the taskbar once. I'm just learning how to use a mouse pad and it doesn't seem to be consistant in the way things open with a single tap.

One time it will require two taps to open an email for example, and the next time only once.

Look in the mouse applet in the control panel. If it's a Synaptics touchpad, there should be a tab in there for the settings. Or, there may be an icon for it in the notification area by the clock. Double click on it to open the settings.

If it's not a Synaptics, I don't know but I would guess there would be something similar for it.

I can't find a mouse pad applet in the control panel. Should it be with the mouse applet?

Update: I found the Synaptic settings, thank you. I'm going to check them out further and post back if I have questions.

    Hi Alicia,

It should be yes and I'm not being pedantic here but the terminology is TouchPad.

It's surprising how easy things are if you know what it's called...

eg Googling for "Mouse Pad" will bring up an entirely inappropriate set of results for your TouchPad query. ;)

Good to see you've resolved the issue.

Can you change the title of this thread to TouchPad? Then people can find it if they do a search.
