I under stand the message about the courtesy of terminating the thread.

You guys tried to help me out in the past. I felt like I should tell you why I could not reply with "Resolved ".

The answers I got were in a foreign language with no clear directions written in Layman's terms. I needed a step by step.
So....I never really got any of my questions resolved. I still have problems.

Every question I asked was answered.
The Answers left me more confused. The answers were from a lofty Computer Tech to another Lofty Computer tech.
Think like this: "Grandma, do this right now..... ":D When you get Grandma to fix the problem, then you've won a major battle.

The "Courtesy termination options" should have one more option. "HUH? "

All in all I know you guys are trying to help.
I'd compare the help to speaking with a Neurosurgeon by Text from a Village out in Western Alaska while I was working on some guy with Bear Scratches all over his head.
The two of us didn't have the same vocabulary. The patient is still lying there.

You guys have a phenomenal amount of knowledge.
I took a course in VB.NET last year and barely understood it, and could not lock it into my brain. CRS is me!

Back in the 70's, before MicroSoft I worked on Intel 8080's and understood the instructions. Tough but I loved it, so clever.
VB.NET is just a Emulation of that old 8080 machine language.
The PC however is far more complex than what we had back then.
    I just lost the bullet.
Thanks for listening. Maybe some day I'll ask a question where I can understand the answer.

thudpucker. I understand entirely what you are saying ;) but when replying to posts there is a dilemma.

How much do I dumb this down or how tech savvy is this poster? Some people take offence if those helping dumb it down too much (Do you think I'm stupid? etc) whereas others like yourself genuinely don't understand the replies.

The best advice I can offer is if you don't understand your replies please ask whoever is assisting to clarify, the majority of WindowsBBS members will be happy to do so.

I think "Step by step" is the key.
I copied the instructions. But couldn't make them work.
Amazing how "**** Happens" when everything looked like it would work.

I can't think of an example right now, but suppose you were telling me to do something to the Framus, and my Framus, what I see when I get to that screen, is different than what you thought it would be.
I'm stumped and don't even know how to ask or what to ask.

I tried to capture the screen and send the capture. That didn't work either.
I didn't know I could do that till one of you told me how.

Depression is another thing. Out here I'm already pretty depressed by having a problem, and no idea who can fix it. (you guys remain paramount in that regard, and I do appreciate your efforts to help)

I sure appreciate all your efforts. I hope nobody was offended with my post. I was trying to help, not complain.
    Dick

I have been a follower (pretty much in the background) of this board for over 10 years and I think Wildfire provided an excellent assessment of the dilemmas some of the responders face. Some posters are full fledged beginners, some are extremely tech savvy, and most seem to fall somewhere in between.

In most cases I have watched, the responder has generally assessed the skill and understanding level of the thread starter and structured the response appropriately. Whenever it appears there is a lack of communication, another of the experts will usually chime in to get things back in proper perspective. Whenever I haven't understood a response, I tell the responder so and am usually given another post that will clarify. All in all - an excellent place to get problems solved with no unpleasantness.
