Hi. I wanted to do a reinstall of a flight sim program so I deleted the program via control panel, then went to disc cleanup and deleted all files. I also ran the free version of cc cleaner. I then reinstalled the FS program but I notice that the reinstall still has me signed in and has other indications that the old program hasn't been deleted and replaced with the new installation. I hope I explained this clearly. Can you advise? Thank you.

    Thev important question is ....

Is the sim running as it should? If so no cause for concern :)
Probably a cookie - does this sim have an online facility?
Can you elaborate on this? The odds are that a number of registry entries remained after the uninstall.

Many thanks for the prompt reply. To answer your Q's in sequence:
The flight simulator (FSX) itself works perfectly. My problem is with a environment enhancement called Flight Environment. Little hard to explain if you are unfamiliar with this addon. The devloper (Flight 1) advised me to reinstall it as administrator but the CD has no allowance for that. But I believe your guess is correct. This is almost certainly a problem with registry entries that remained after the reinstall. I simpy didn't want to mess with the registry when I deleted the original program before reinstalling. I am not computer literate and am fearful of messing with the registry. Would welcome any advice on this. Thanks.

Chris: Thanks for your response. I'm not familiar with REVO. Can you tell me where I can locate it? Thanks.

Revo uninstaller totally removes programs, in advanced mode from the registry and everywhere.
Just do a search for revo uninstaller. Free works great.

    Chris.

To install the program as administrator, browse the CD with Windows Explorer. Find Setup.exe (or whatever the setup file is named), right click on it and choose "run as administrator ".

Chris: Many thanks. Found it. If not too complex I'll give it a shot. Thanks again.

ZANDOR As I mentioned, I am a computer novice. Not sure what you mean by browsing the CD. All it (the CD) does is install and has no options for browsing or installing as administrator. To add to my problems, I can't finde Setup.exe anywhere but thanks again for the guidance. Maybe Revop will solve this. I hope so.

    Browsing the CD

Insert the CD into the drive.

If the Autoplay window opens select 'Open folder to view files' - screenshot

Contents of CD will be shown in Windsows Explorer.

If the Autoplay window does not open, but the program starts to install exit from it and open Windows Explorer and click on the CD/DVD drive in the left hand pane to show the contents in the right hand pane.

The default view in Windows Explorer is to hide extensions for known file types ....

Click on the Organize dropdown arrow in the top left of the window and select Layout and check 'Menu Bar'

Once the Menu bar is at the top of the window click on Tools > Folder Options > View and uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'

All file extensions will now be shown including executable files - .exe

Look in the file list of the CD for install.exe or setup.exe

Right click on the file > Run as Administrator.

It is possible that those files are in a folder.

As you have re-installed the sim Revo Uninstaller should list it. If you choose to uninstall it again with a view to making another fresh install when Revo gets to the stage of presenting the Registry keys to remove be sure to remove only those in bold.

Peter: My autoplay window doesn't open and I don't show a CD /DVD drive when I click on Windows Explorer. Lost somewhere. I have REVO and will try a fix today. Will report results. Thanks to you and everyone in here for your generous assistance and patience with a computer neophyte.

. Clearly an issue here - I suggest you start a new thread on this - it should not be dealt with in this thread which relates to an entirely different issue.

Yes - I understand that - I was just pointing out that you have a further problem and that it should be addressed in a new thread :)

I have used Revouninstaller Pro for sometime now,
and find that at times RevouninstallerPro does not
record all titles as a check to Windows 7 Uninstall
    has proved this.

    revo

Tried REVO on this problem and sad to report no good result. I guess I need a tech person to come in and solve this on the machine. Thank you all very much for your courtesy and help.

If, as you posted, you need to run the add-on as an Administrator (Post #4) you will be unable to do that until the non-appearance of the CD/DVD drive is resolved..

I suggest you post as I suggested and then return to this thread and continue it. It may save you £££/$$$ :)
