    Understood:)

Even if you repair the boot problem you will still have to do a clean install of XP in order to get the Raid drivers installed from the floppy. The SATA drives might function without the drivers but I would be suprised if they function correctly. They are probably running in IDE mode, if you change them to Raid the system will crash without the drivers. Windows XP does contain a few SATA drivers but the best ones will be directly related to the MOBO and XP will not have them.

You could try booting with the two SATA drives disconnected, it might be their presence without drivers that is messing up the boot sequence.

The fixmbr command needs to be run from the Recovery Console with the XP disc in the drive as it needs to extract files from the disc.

I have seen a method for installing the Raid drivers after XP is installed but it involves some complex work in the registry so a clean install will be the easiest solution.

OK, I will try tonight (or when the formats complete). Then I will post any findings. How do I know if the SATA drives are running in IDE mode (i.e. where do I look)? Thanks again!

You have to look in the bios to check the Hard drive configuration. Bios layout varies so difficult to give instructions. In my Bios I have to select Integrated Peripherals > IDE function setup > I then see that Raid Config is all disabled and Serial ATA controller is all enabled. I just have three SATA hard drives and two IDE CD drives

I would not be concerned with these settings until you have completed the re-install of XP with the Raid drivers.

In my BIOS, I remember looking at the drives to make sure they were all there before booting last night, and there were 2 Primary IDE drives (the two 120GB drives) and 2 SATA (the two 1TB drives) listed (as well as the DVD ROM drive as a secondary IDE, and a 3.5in floppy). That was how they were called out in the BIOS. So I am pretty sure they are not in IDE mode, but I will look again for more details tonight. Thanks!

UPDATE: All four drives were/are there; two primary IDE, two SATA, Plextor DVD ROM on secondary IDE, 3.5in Removable drive. I believe the issue was related to the jumper settings on the primary IDE drives; I had them reversed on closer inspection (read: got out the flashlight so I could see what the settings were actually supposed to be...). Once I removed the 120GB drive that was the slave from the IDE cable and reinstalled windows XP (and installing the RAID Drivers correctly during setup) on the remaining 120GB drive, I am now able to boot without the XP CD now. I plan to wipe the other 120GB drive, format, and put it back in the system with a small and large partition, but time is my constraint at this point. Thank you for yuor assistance to this point, it is greatly appreciated!
