I have quite a few DVD RW discs that I have recorded TV shows on (mainly musical) and regularly re-watch them. It would make them a whole lot more enjoyable if I could simply rip them on to a hard drive, edit out the adverts and other bits that I don't like and then burn them back on to a DVD.
Can anyone please suggest a suitable, simple, preferably free, software package to do this. I have tried one or two (currently trying Video Pad Video Editor) but they seem so cumbersome, sledgehammer to crack a walnut, springs to mind and it wants me to do conversions before re-burning etc; it is so longwinded.
I can't even get Windows Movie Maker to work at all.
    Grateful for any suggestions.
