I used to have a Compaq Presario desktop.
Whenever I pressed the volume control buttons on the keyboard,in addition to the actual volume increase or decrease, I was shown a green "on screen" display with a moving scale as the volume went up or down.

I have purchased a Toshiba Satellite C650D notebook and have plugged the old LCD monitor and the Compaq keyboard into it through USB ports.

The buttons on the keyboard do adjust the volume, but the old helpful on screen green sliding display is now missing.

I have spoken to both HP and Toshiba Technical support people but they are unable to help Me.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a suitable download to fix this problem please?

I know what you are speaking of, but have no idea if this is a function of the keyboard software (I use MS keyboard with Intellitype software and have that facility) or the sound card.

You could try loading the Compaq keyboard software - if there is any, but I guess HP covered that or look here for some third party apps .....

Yes - that's what I use, but with an MS keyboard. Interesting to know it works with other keyboards too!
