About a year ago I had a major nasty virus attack on a computer and posted here http://www.windowsbbs.com/malware-virus-removal/80700-active-spyware-guard-2009-clean-up-hijackthis-log-help.html. I was getting good help from you and making progress when I lost access to the internet. I eventually found out that all the usb ports, the wireless, and possibly more were either not working at all or were working intermittently. That computer didn't have a R/W drive on it of any form and consequently all output, except to the screen, is unusable. I have plan to download a usb virus cleaner to another computer and transfer it via CD. Maybe then I can copy some needed data to a thumbnail drive and also get access to the net again so I can finish fixing the problems.

So I'm looking for a free usb virus cleaner that can get the usb ports and wireless working on that computer working again. Any reccommendations?

That would have been 2 years ago ;)

Start a new thread in Malware and Virus Removal with fresh logs.

    Thanks for your reply.

I would like to post logs but, again, there is no usable output from the infected computer. That's why I wanted to get a copy of a usb virus removal program. I have another machine with access to the net that can burn a CD. I can then use that CD on the infected machine...I hope.

I've searched the net for usb virus removal programs and found several. Most of them claimed to keep a virus from entering through a usb port. But none of them directly claimed to disinfect your hard drive.

You have a CD Writer, yes?

Download the software to the working computer and transfer via CD.

In your previous thread you indicated you have a memory card reader, use that to transfer the logs back.

There is no such thing as a USB virus removal program, USB ports do not catch viruses.

If the above is of no help start a new thread anyway and let the malware specialists help.

OK, This is the last time I'm going to suggest this or reply to this thread...

POST IN MALWARE AND VIRUS REMOVAL with a full description of your issues.

The experts there will give you advice on how to download anti-malware software to your working machine and use it on the infected system.
