    Dear all,

    I inserted a 2GB flash memory and I cannot open any of its content.
    It shows 150MB free of 1.92GB

    I am scanning it with Avast and Windows Defender and it seems it will take ages as the following appears:
    - In avast window, I see 10% scanned, tested folders 67000 and amount of data tested 660GB!!!!!!!!!
    - In windows defender window, and after 13mnutes of scan, it is still less then 2mm bar in the scanning bar!

    And I see un-readable long file names.

    Please advise.

    p.s. I am keeping scanning on for the night :)

    Try running chkdsk on it and see if there are any errors on the drive. Plug the drive in. Then open a command prompt and type "chkdsk x: /f" (without the quotes and where x is the letter of the drive). When it's done, it will tell you whether it found errors or not.

    Hi Zander,

    I followed your instructions;
    Many folders disappeared and many files can't be opened.
    It seems that the whole flash memory is corrupted and not way to have its content work!

    Follow this short tutorial to format the drive and then check to see what space it is showing. If it has not returned to normal after formating I think you can safely say it's time to get a new one.

    Hi
    I also had en corruption issue with my mosaerbaer 2gb micro SD card.
    I used a tool SD Formatter from the following link.
    www.sdcard.org
    It worked as a charm !!
    See if that helps

    ooops !!!

    I was a little early into my reply. The formatter worked but the problem persists !!. Now when I plug it in, windows shows a disk drive but when I double click it, it says "Please insert a drisk in drive H ". I have tried everything(driver rollback, reset,changing drive letter and path etc)but the problem still is the same.
    When I go in DOS mode, I find a message "the partition is RAW "
    . can't format,can,t do anything on the sd card now.
    And yes, the sd card is of Mosaer Baer
    :(:(:(

    You need to repartition the drive. If you go to the mosaerbaer support site you can download the software for all there flash drives.

    Joedotm,

    You may get somewhere if you go to the manufacturers support site. You didn't mention the make of your drive.

    Dear all,

    Sorry for almost always coming back late; I live in the Middle East!! (can't say more).

    I did the chkdsk x: /f "; many files were lost and some other files couldn't be opened;
    It seems that the USB was almost dead; which I told my friend.
